On time, on budget and to the client's satisfaction

Cheltenham based Dove Construction have recently completed the design and build of a new multi-purpose sports hall for Falkland Primary School. The project for the school in Newbury, Berkshire was won following a competitive tendering process and included all the associated facilities required by a school sports hall. The works were completed from start to finish in 20 weeks, on time, within budget and to the client's satisfaction.

The building was constructed using a portal frame system comprising a 260mm built-up, insulated roof and 100mm thick composite steel wall panelling. The total floor area was 276 square metres with an extensive sports floor area designed to suit a wide range of sports of 180 square metres.

Under floor heating was installed to all rooms and the sports hall itself was lined with 2.2m high rebound walls and fitted with cushioned vinyl sports flooring. The project value was just over 320,000.

Dove Construction was pleased to work in partnership with the schools project manager, Jason Ward from Witney based Ridge & Partners LLP.

Managing Director, of Dove, Terry Young commented. "We are immensely proud of this project, which allowed us to combine our deep understanding of the requirements of sports facilities with our experience of working in an educational environment. We pride ourselves on our ability to listen to and work closely with our clients whilst also minimising impact on the schools day to day activities".

Fiona Henderson, Head Teacher of Falkland Primary School also commented. "Dove Construction made this building project so easy for us in school. We have been grateful for their co-operation and willingness to adapt to our needs. Both Dove's management and site manager were effective communicators and understood the limitations of working in a school and having to consider the health and safety of pupils".

Dove Construction is looking to build upon their success with sports projects and buildings across the country with the launch of a new brand, Spatial Structures. The company has ambitious plans for Spatial Structures which will be focussing on tension membrane, fabric covered steel structures for a variety of uses including a range of sports.
