Fulham FC contract award makes it a Championship hat trick for Spatial Structures

Spatial Structures, the Gloucester based specialist manufacturer and builder of steel framed, membrane covered buildings has been awarded the contract to build a new indoor training centre for Fulham Football Club. This will be the third indoor training building constructed for Championship football clubs by Spatial Structures having already completed projects for Wolverhampton Wanderers FC and Brighton & Hove Albion FC.

Work on the new building at Fulham Football Club's Motspur Park training ground will soon be underway and is due for completion in September 2016. The building will be a 62.5 x 81m single span, steel framed structure covering a three-quarter sized 3G training surface. No internal columns ensures that 100% of the 5,000 square metre area will be useable. In addition, the translucent PVC roof will allow the maximum possible amount of natural light into the building during the day.

The £1.2 million contract includes foundations, the superstructure, ventilation and rebound walls. The awarding of the Fulham contract further reinforces Spatial Structures' growing reputation as a leading provider of steel framed, fabric covered buildings for a variety of sports.

Terry Young, Managing Director of Dove Construction which is behind the Spatial Structures brand, commented on the project:

"We are delighted to have been chosen for this project. The fact that we have now been chosen by three of the current Championship sides is testament to our growing reputation in the world of football - particularly coming so soon after the announcement of the contract for Chelsea FC’s new indoor pitch structure. The new building will give Fulham Football Club a fantastic all year round, all weather training facility that I am sure will prove to a huge asset."

Commenting on behalf of Fulham Football Club, Darren Preston, Chief Operating Officer commented:

"The Club's training facilities have been based at Motspur Park since 1999 and we are delighted to enter into this next phase of development there. We are looking forward to working with Spatial Structures and are sure that they will deliver a first class facility. We see this development as being an essential part of our plans to maintain Fulham’s Category One designation under the Elite Player Performance Plan."
