Spatial Structures Complete New Tennis Centre Structure For Portsmouth City Council

New Spatial Structures Tennis Centre For Portsmouth City Council

Spatial Structures, the Cheltenham based specialist manufacturer and builder of steel framed fabric covered buildings, which is part of Dove Construction, has just completed works on the Mountbatten Indoor Tennis Centre for Raymond Brown Construction Ltd.

This building delivered to Portsmouth City Council provides a new tennis facility covering four existing courts over an area of 258,000 square feet. This new facility will allow more local people to use the facility because of its all weather, all year round use. Spatial Structures were commissioned by Raymond Brown Construction Ltd to design and build the indoor court fabric covered structure. The leisure centre is hugely popular in the area, with an athletics track, velodrome, sports hall, gym and swimming pool.

The project further reinforces Spatial Structures growing reputation as a leading provider of steel framed fabric covered structures in the sporting field, particularly in tennis.

Duncan Glen, Contracts Manager at Raymond Brown Construction Ltd has said that,

"Raymond Brown is pleased to have appointed Spatial Structures on this scheme. It is an exciting project for both companies, and having recognised their expertise in this field, we knew from the outset that the local people of Portsmouth would be provided with a high quality end product."

Terry Young commented on the project,

"We were delighted to have been chosen by Raymond Brown Construction Ltd for this prestigious project at the Mountbatten Leisure Centre. The new building will be a great asset to the local area and a fantastic addition to what is already a very impressive range of facilities. Given the unpredictable nature of the British weather we are seeing a growing demand in centres and clubs wanting to cover existing facilities, meaning that bad weather need never stop play or training.
"We are very much experts in the more general field of steel framed fabric covered structures but we feel we can add even more value when these are applied in the sports and leisure world. We pride ourselves on our deep understanding of the needs of different sports and this, combined with our experience of construction and engineering, make Spatial Structures unique."
